The idea for today's card came from here: http://www.stampinpretty.com/

I actually made 16 other cards tonight, baby thank you cards for my friend Sheryl (we did it together) but if I ignore that, this is my 33rd card of the year. The brads were meant to be brown and match the brown cardboard but I didnt have any. *adds them to her order*

Cheep talk stamp set from Stampin' up!

When I looked back on the cards I made in 2009, I realised I hadn't made many I liked. So I've gone back to what I like, back to 'basics'. For me this means simpler colour schemes and somewhat layered and symetrical cards (as much as they can be when hand made).

With this new stamp set, I was trialling a few things. Did it look better to have flowers or pears in the tree? Was it better to have white as a background card colour, or a more bold colour? For a second 'flower in tree' card, see the entry below. I think I like the flower and the pear, and though I like the white cards I think I prefer the bolder background colours. What are your thoughts?

2010

I've made my first two cards of 2010. Both were made today to be posted tomorrow. The first is a bit muted in tone because I need to use it as a sympathy card. My finger is in the photo so you can see that I have a shorter scalloped layer in the front. Next time I use the trees I will make sure I put the second tree's leaves lower.

I love this card in person, it's so so much cuter than the photo! The colours are bold red and blue and the bird is much sharper around it's edges when it is full sized compared to how it is resized for your viewing pleasure. This card is going to my aunt and uncle to thank them for hosting me in NZ on our second-to-last night.
