year long card tally: 208

Hi everyone! I have been busy lately! I've cracked the 200 card mark for the year and would love to get to one card per day but that is a big ask...we shall see!

Card one is mostly Kaszazz stuff, but the washi ribbon came from Japan and the embossing folder is stampin' up!

These owl cards are so cute, they were inspired by pinterest. Super quick to make up! I used cherry cobbler paper and a branch die that I got at a craft show (no idea what brand sorry).

More cards from Pinterest. I love my stamps by paper smooches, they are really sweet, but I am not too good at using them given it isnt my typical 'genre' of cards. Still, they came out pretty close to what I saw on Pinterest (oh how I love thee).

Yet again, inspired on the interenet, I thought, 'this looks simple, surely I have a spellbinders set that can make that beard!?) and this is how it turned out, super cute and very effective! After wondering about cutting out the inside of the silver buckle, I decided to instead, cut a one inch square piece and lay it across the top...it gives the right illusion! I think I have made about five of these now. I've given all but one of them away though. Two went to some nurses who were looking for cards to send overseas, one to my crochet friend and another to my MIL.

These three classes were from a class...I still need to put glossy accents on their eyes so they are waiting on my desk for me to have a few minutes spare lol.

My friend Anna taught us this technique. I like the effective star pattern but was irritated with myself that I couldnt get them looking how I liked...so I gave them to the nurses the moment I finished them. You can actually see half of Anna in the background of this photo lol.

I thought this card uploaded wrong but nope, apparently I took a bad photo of it! It was a pretty swirled paper, which we embossed using an embossing folder and just coloured in with watercolour pencils and covered in some glitter to give the effect of snow. This design was by my friend Liz:

These two were cards I was thinking of teaching my friends to make...but I stuffed them up so royally (one has a line of writing up the wrong way lol) and it was really difficult to get them in a nice line. I think I'll skip teaching my friends these cards just yet. Not every card I make is a success!

This card isnt one I made, my cousin made it but I am showing you because she copied my design, we wanted to see what it looked like in a colour other than blue:

And this is the original, the one I made the design up for. It is watercolour paper with a stencil. I drew around the outside of the stencil shapes using watercolour pencils then filled it in with a water brush. I used part of a moroccan stamp set to create that mesh look in the background. I didnt use it on an acrylic block but kind of curled it and rolled it in my hand.

I showed you the card design below in my last blog post (or the one before that?) but this time I used different colours and a different sentiment. I also put glossy accents on the butterfly (Kaszazz vintage butterfly) which you cant really see well due to the angle I took this photo at. I like the way glossy accents create an upwards curl on butterflies as they dry. Still very easy to post but gives them nice dimension.

Another card I designed. Same concept as the card two above, but adding more embellishments and layers. All products were Kaszazz for this card, except the little tag.

Finally we have some ATC cards. They are like mini card fronts that fit a certain dimension. You are given a theme (in this case, it was a page in a catalogue) and can make anything you are inspired to make after looking at the picture. This was my creation:

I used cherry pie and slate grey dimensional sprays for the background then lay a diamond stencil over top, squirted with water and quickly patted it dry. This removed a bit of the colour and left a slight diamond pattern behind (if you use watercolour paper, this will be much stronger which you will see in my next card below). Then I stamped a flower in weathered wood distress ink in the top right, ripped paper and stuck it down diagonally then covered it half with a washi strip. The swirl was chipboard which I coloured silver with a metallic paint and the flower was punched (3 layers) and held together with a brad before I squirted it with water and crinkled it up a bit. However crinkled you let it dry, it will stay. With ATC cards, you make 9 identical and you keep one of your own, the others get swapped out with other people's ATC cards so here below is mine and 8 other creations by other people who had the same page for inspiration.

Also on that same day, was a card swap where you make two identical cards and get two different ones back. I made two horrible cards the first time we did this so this time I wanted something a little prettier. The theme was 'chipboard' so we had to make something with chipboard on it. I first wanted to make waves in the ocean but changed my mind as I couldnt get it looking how I liked, so I did butterfly wings instead. In this card, you can see the same technique I did on my little pink ATC cards, but done on water colour paper so the effect is much more obvious...

Finally, I forgot to take pics and upload the last two swaps, so I have actually made 208 cards this year!
