So glad we're friends (this is my new favourite stamp)

So I made these the same day as the last ten, I just didnt put the photos up until now (and thus the card numbering is 11, 12 and 13). I started making these weeks back but I hated how one of them turned out so I left the rest of them until I could think of something different to do. They're so simple but also kinda cute?

A morning of card making

Hi girls (am assuming no men are stopping by lol). I've been making cards with some new toys.

CARD 1: This is my favourite card of the day. I bought a circle template and used it to punch holes then stitch them. The template is called 'In stitchez' by Bazzill. "so glad we're friends", circle punch and scallop circle punch are all from Stampin' up!

CARD 2: A very easy design. Stamp phrase, punch it with circle punch. Stick that onto red scallop circle. Attach to card. Use circle template to punch holes (I did every second circle).

CARD 3: Big W paper. Bazzill 'In Stitches edgy border template' to make stems of flowers.

CARD 4: Stampin' up! 'Over all' stamp set, large oval punch, scallop oval punch. Penny Black cat stamp.

CARD 5: Exactly the same things used as card 4.

CARDS 6, 7, 8 and 9: Stamp it background stmaps. Penny Black cat stamps. Brads are mostly from ebay.

CARD 10: Paper from Big W, stamp, circle punch and circle scallop punch all from Stampin' up!

2009 Christmas card trials begin.

A lesson learnt!

Today I bought a card making magazine (Australian cardmaking, stamping and papercraft) and in it was a two page spread using a stamp set and paper set that I happened to own so I thought I'd copy some designs. What did I learn? That I can copy those designs reasonably accurately but I DONT LIKE THE END RESULT! None of the cards (except the very last photo) feel like 'me', it felt like I wasnt being true to myself because I was churning out designs that didnt match my style or personality. It was a good lesson for me...even if you're allowed to copy designs, dont. They're still useable I think but they'll end up at the bottom of the drawer unused until I get desperate or decide to throw them out or gift them to someone else to use.

CARD 1: I didnt have the correct ribbon colour (celery green) so I replaced it. I actually have the celery green on order but it hasnt arrived yet.
CARD 2: Again, missing celery ribbon (same colour as the ink in the flower). Despite copying the design, I wasnt happy with where the ribbon ended up and though I should have moved it higher and had it slightly different from theirs because of that.

CARD 3: Changed the background the white was on from celery to 'not quite navy'. Tried out a different ribbon and brads. Not sure if I like it (ribbon does match slightly better than in photo, I used the flash).

CARD 4: Was meant to have cut that whole top layer smaller so I had room on the green background to stamp a message.

CARDS 5 and 6: I liked these two. They are similar to what I might make on my own anyway. I struggled to get the ink to ink up on the stamp properly!

Five cards made tonight using paper I bought on Friday afternoon. Mostly they are in the same colour family so I can use up scraps of cardboard.

CARD 1: Night of navy (stampin' up! cardboard), paper from Big w ('all dressed up' matstock), stamp 'stamp it'.



Cards 2 and 3: Basil basics cream cardboard, patterned paper from Big W.

CARD 4: Cardboard from 'the fox collection', paper from Big W, Stamp from stampin' up!
