Some more cards...
Glasswork
Tonight I also made two glass pendants. One I have a photo of here but one is still cooling in the microwave so I will have to load it later/tomorrow.
So this is what I start with, black glass and a bag of frit (sorta like glass shards). This bag is called 'Aloha'. I cut the glass to the size I want (here's one I prepared earlier :P).
Then add glass glue and a pile of frit (note: this is the colour of the pendant still cooling in the microwave because I forgot to take a photo of aloha loaded on the glass and ready to go).
Into the special kiln and into the microwave for around 10 minutes (you have to slowly build up the temperature of the glass or it will crack but black glass is a lot less temperamental plus I like it more than white lol).
And here is the outcome! So what you see here is the 'cooked' version of the first photo. These cant be worn yet, they need to be slow fired in a proper kiln before I can attach them to jewellery. When this was done, I loved the colours but my first thought was 'Whoa, this is a bit of a 'Chrissy' looking colour scheme!' This was cooked less on a high temperature than the first pendant I made, thus the colours are more 'blob' than 'bleeding' if that makes sense? I think the next time I try that technique, I'll let the frit start closer to the edge so the whole pendant is colourful not just the centre.

A fun Saturday!
Yesterday I received a craft order and one of the things I had ordered was a ribbon dispenser. For some reason I imagined it coming already decorated but it came as a flat pack of plain wood pieces. Out came the paint! It's actually a much darker shade than this (flash has made it lighter) and is actually crimson and white mixed but not fully mixed. When all the pieces had dried enough, I picked out two different patterns of paper, stuck them together overlapping then stuck them down onto the box. Then selected some flowers, poked brads through them and glued them to the paper/box. It actually looks a LOT cuter in real life, I'm happy with it! I'll leave it to dry for a day then tomorrow I'll add rolls of ribbon to the inside so the ends poke out a tiny bit.
The kit for this box also came in my craft order yesterday. In actual fact I bought two of them but only put one together today. I think it comes in three shapes but this one was the more pleasing to my eye (I like symmetrical things). It took a lot of glue and delicate cutting to make this but I am happy with how cute it turned out!

happy hellos ver 2.0
Claire had a long nap today so I made some cards:
Generally speaking I dont like cards on light papers like this but I bought some just to push myself. This card is so much cuter in real life.
Question: What do you think of when you look at that paper? Fish bones? Fern leaves?
This has a shimmery pink ink but the flash means you cant see it.

MY FIRST PENDANT!!!
I am so excited about this!! Here is a photo of my first ever glass pendant!!! Do you like it? It's black glass with a pink/green/gold crystal (what the heck is that stuff called, I cant remember). So the photo is rather deceptive, the green is very subtle and you only get it in certain lights, the colour that is the most obvious is the pink. I've left that bottom photo bigger so you can click it and see what it really looks like. Also, there is a tiny bit of fire paper on the side of it that I havent removed properly (coz I dont remember how lol).
The next step is to have it slow fired in a kiln then I can glue on the pendant attachment and choose a necklace type for it. Traditionally I always give away the first I make of something. I think I'm going to give this one to my sister Louise.
Isnt it amazing that I made this from a square chunk of glass!?
